01 Overview

Apartment and high-rise moves all over Los Angeles

Apartment moves come down to details a house move never has — the freight elevator that’s only yours until noon, the COI the building won’t budge on, the dock window you share with the unit ten floors up. Pro Express Moving works these buildings every week, from the DTLA high-rise lofts with their reserved elevators and dock-window rules to the older walk-ups around Santa Monica and the mid-rise complexes in Culver City and Koreatown. We’re a licensed California mover with our own crews and trucks, so the people who book your elevator are the same people who carry your couch.

Across LA County, LA County movers handles premium moves on a single written flat rate, with nothing sprung on the invoice.

The pricing carries straight over from our other local jobs: $149/hr puts two movers and a truck on the work, $209/hr puts three, and there’s no one-hour minimum to clear. For a studio or one-bedroom the flat rate — it begins at $419 — is usually the cheaper of the two, so we run both and hand you whichever comes out lower. A $99 deposit reserves your date and is credited back on the final bill.

The building side gets sorted before move day arrives:

  • A certificate of insurance that lists your building as additional insured, filed well before the date
  • Freight-elevator and loading-dock windows reserved with property management
  • Wall pads, doorjamb guards and floor runners through shared lobbies and long interior corridors
  • Stair-climbing hand trucks for the no-elevator second- and third-floor walk-ups that fill LA’s older housing stock

Parking is its own fight here. On a permit-only block in Santa Monica or a tight downtown street we’ll reserve curb space ahead of time so the truck isn’t circling, and we time DTLA high-rise moves to the building’s elevator window so a crew isn’t standing idle on your clock while the freight car is booked elsewhere. We factor the 110 and the 10 into when we roll, too, so the crew arrives inside your reservation rather than after it lapses. Every piece is shrink-wrapped and padded, covered at $0.60/lb standard with full-value protection and up to $1,000,000 in cargo coverage per shipment available. Give us your building’s name, the floor you’re on, and whatever move rules it enforces, and the COI, the elevator slot and the crew are all lined up before the date comes. What’s included

  • Our own crew and a right-sized Pro Express truck — book two movers at $149/hr or three at $209/hr, and the one-hour minimum is waived
  • Studios and one-bedrooms can take the flat rate that starts at $419 so the smaller jobs stay predictable
  • Building coordination on certificates of insurance, freight-elevator reservations and dock or loading-window time slots
  • Floor runners, wall and doorjamb pads, plus shrink wrap for upholstery and mattresses through shared lobbies and corridors
  • Stair-climbing hand trucks and four-wheel dollies for Westside walk-ups and long DTLA interior hallways
  • Released-value coverage at $0.60/lb included, full-value optional, and up to $1,000,000 in cargo coverage per shipment

How we set the price

After a quick walkthrough or video estimate, we write up a single flat rate from the inventory you genuinely have — not from a clock ticking by the hour. Whatever the sheet reads is the entire price, with nothing tacked on afterward.

02 How we protect your move

Your things get handled like our own

Our truck rolls up already loaded with pads, film, and floor runners — ready to shield furniture, cover hardwood, and cushion the fragile pieces in LA’s Spanish-style bungalows and hillside homes.

Quilted pads

Before a single piece moves, dressers, tables, and headboards are wrapped and padded right where they stand.

Stretch film

Sealed against road dust and the LA heat, drawers stay shut and cushions stay clean the whole ride.

Floor & doorway guards

Hardwood, banisters, and trim come through clean because runners, rail wraps, and jamb pads go down before any lifting starts.

Built-to-fit crating

For mirrors, glass tops, framed art, and flat screens, we build crates sized to the piece — every corner covered.

Break-down & rebuild

Bed frames, tables, and oversized furniture get taken apart for transit, then reassembled once they reach the new place.

Straps, dollies & gear

Tight staircases, hillside switchbacks, and the heavy stuff all get the right tie-downs and equipment — we never cut a corner.

03 Why us

You hire the movers, not a middleman

Book Pro Express and our name goes on the contract, our truck pulls up to your door, and our own crew works the ramp. A broker signs none of that — it flips your job to whoever bids lowest, then steps out of the picture.

Pro Express Moving
  • Our own LA trucks and full-time, background-checked movers — no day labor
  • One flat rate in writing, locked — what you sign is what you settle, to the dollar
  • The same crew loads your old place and unloads the new one, start to finish
  • CPUC household-goods authority and USDOT/MC for interstate, fully insured
  • A Los Angeles office and one point of contact from the first call to the final box
What a broker does
  • Hands your job to whatever carrier comes in cheapest that week
  • Surprises you with fresh fees and a new number once move day arrives
  • Puts strangers you have never spoken to in charge of loading your home
  • Keeps you in the dark about who actually owns the liability
  • Drops a call center between you and whoever ends up doing the lifting

Questions we hear about this service

My DTLA building demands a certificate of insurance before I can move — can you supply one?
We can, and it's everyday paperwork on our end. Almost every Downtown LA loft and high-rise asks for a COI naming the building as additional insured before they'll free up the freight elevator. Diana in our office handles those requests — send us the management contact and we'll have it filed well ahead of move day.
What does a one-bedroom apartment move usually run?
For a studio or a one-bedroom, the flat rate — opening at $419 — is usually where you land cheapest. With a heavy load or a third-floor walk-up, though, the hourly clock at $149/hr for two movers can win out, so we quote both and you keep the lower number. A $99 deposit holds your slot.
Can you handle walk-ups and buildings without an elevator?
All the time. Plenty of older Westside and Long Beach buildings are second- and third-floor walk-ups with no lift. We bring stair-climbing hand trucks and, for heavier loads, add a third mover at $209/hr so the haul up the stairs doesn't drag the whole day out.
