Moving on after decades in the same LA home
Few moves are harder than the one out of a house you’ve kept for thirty or forty years — and it almost never stays a simple move; it becomes a downsizing. The four-bedroom in Glendale becomes a two-bedroom at a retirement community in Pasadena, and someone has to decide what comes along. Since 2013, Pro Express Moving has walked LA families through exactly this passage, and we give it the patience it asks for. Nobody’s rushing you, no strangers and no hired-on hands turn up — it’s our own in-house crew, moving at whatever pace you set.
Across LA County, our LA moving crew handles premium moves on a single written flat rate, with nothing sprung on the invoice.
Our part covers the entire arc, not just the carrying. Ahead of move day, the crew can go room by room with you to settle what travels to the new place, what’s handed down to children and grandchildren, and what’s donated or hauled off. On move day we pack, transport and unpack, set up the beds, and arrange the new apartment so the day ends with a livable home instead of a stack of boxes.
Every community runs by its own playbook, and those are playbooks we already know:
- Certificates of insurance filed ahead for 55+ and continuing-care residences across the county
- Move-in windows and elevator times booked through community management
- Each piece broken down at the old home, then rebuilt and set in place at the new one
- Care taken on narrow apartment corridors and shared lobbies, with floor and wall protection
We bill it on the same plain structure everyone else gets — $149/hr for two movers, $209/hr for three, or a flat rate that opens at $419 on a small apartment, with packing on that same clock and not a dollar of senior surcharge or padded fee. The $99 deposit holds the date and credits to the final bill, and goods are covered at $0.60/lb released value standard with full-value protection and up to $1,000,000 in cargo coverage per shipment available. We also keep the family looped in — adult children often live out of state and are coordinating this from afar, so we’ll confirm the plan, the timeline and the price with whoever’s organizing the move rather than leaving a parent to manage every detail alone. Get my free moving quote and we’ll build a plan around the move, the new community’s rules, and the calm day it ought to be.

How we set the price
After a quick walkthrough or video estimate, we write up a single flat rate from the inventory you genuinely have — not from a clock ticking by the hour. Whatever the sheet reads is the entire price, with nothing tacked on afterward.
